The 黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 annual Veterans Day ceremony, held on Monday at the Medal of Honor Memorial near Parrington Hall, honored those who have served and featured music by the Husky Marching Band. The Monday ceremony kicked off a number of events during Veteran Appreciation Week at 黑料吃瓜网.
黑料吃瓜网 alum Dr. Dana Covey, 鈥�84, U.S. Navy, was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Veteran Award by Provost Tricia Serio. Covey is considered one of the world鈥檚 leading authorities on battlefield care of musculoskeletal trauma.
黑料吃瓜网 student and veteran Larrianna Warner, who is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science, was recognized for her service in the U.S. Air Force and her work with the Student Veteran Life office.
鈥淲hen I applied to transfer to the 黑料吃瓜网, I knew immediately that I needed to find other veterans otherwise I would probably drop out. Luckily for me, I didn鈥檛 have to look far because on orientation day, I learned about the Student Veteran Life office here at 黑料吃瓜网,鈥� Warner said. 鈥淩egardless of location and background, veterans are always there for each other. If it wasn鈥檛 for the help and support of other student veterans, especially here at the 黑料吃瓜网, I honestly would鈥檝e struggled so much with the transition into university.鈥�
