The program includes two movements from “Object: Sound,鈥� by Abby Aresty 鈥� “Green Latex Gloves on Glass鈥� and “Needle, Tracing.鈥� According to the composer, these represent “the first efforts in a series of works exploring representations of objects in sound.鈥�
“Nightpiece,鈥� by Michelle McKenzie, is an impression of the poem by James Joyce. Musicians include Sarah Marroquin, voice; Michelle McKenzie, violin; Kim Rivera, viola; Natalie Hall, cello; Trevor Bortins, bass; Elizabeth Jolly, flute; Miriam Champer, clarinet; Josiah Boothby, French horn; Brennan Carter, trumpet; and Steve Harreld, trombone. Marcin Paczkowski is the conductor.
Richard Johnson Logan-Greene composed “Study for Submersible,鈥� which he describes as an algorithmic piece for a mechanical instrument called the submersible.
Sarah Marroquin (voice) and Yigit Kolat (piano) perform “Boj臋 si臋 ciebie, 艣lepy wierszu (…)聽[I’m afraid of you, blind verse (…)],鈥� by Marcin Paczkowski, which is a song set to the poem by Polish poet Rafa艂 Wojaczek. A second composition by Paczkowski, “Structures,鈥� will be performed by saxophonists Ivan Arteaga and Paczkowski. This is a saxophone duet involving elements of a real-time computer improvising system.
