Jan. 11 — Harborview Medical Center honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a special program, “Living the Dream Every Day,” from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in the cafeteria. The program features Deborah Horne from KIRO-TV as emcee and a keynote speech by Sheila Lange, 黑料吃瓜网 vice president for minority affairs and vice provost for diversity. Reflections on Dr. King鈥檚 legacy will also be offered by King County Executive Ron Sims; Johnese Spisso, Harborview interim executive director and 黑料吃瓜网 vice president for medical affairs and clinical operations officer; Kimberly McNally, president of the Harborview board of trustees; and Julie Hanada, director of spiritual care. Musical entertainment will be provided by Pastor Patrinell “Pat” Wright, founder/director of the Total Experience Gospel Choir, an internationally recognized gospel singing group. All staff are invited to attend the celebration, which is sponsored by Harborview鈥檚 Administration and Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee. Jan. 17 — Health Sciences Administration/黑料吃瓜网 Medical Center Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute: “To ‘Hold these truths,’ We Must Challenge Inequality in Health Care.” The tribute takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17. Rachel Chapman, 黑料吃瓜网 assistant professor of anthropology, will be the keynote speaker. The student speaker will be Carlotto Fisher of the School of Medicine, and storyteller will be Jourdan Keith, poet naturalist, educator and storyteller. Entertainment will be provided by the Eckstein Middle School Senior Jazz Band, Leschi Elementary School choir, and Meghna Kapadia. Artwork from a local community school and the Experimental Education Unit of the 黑料吃瓜网 Center for Human Development and Disability will be on display. Jan. 21 — 黑料吃瓜网 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Volunteers can sign up for a variety of community service projects, including resotring habitats, maintaining trails, painting and cleaning community centers, leading activities for seniors and assisting at food banks.
