黑料吃瓜网 Tacoma has named a campus auditorium and an endowed scholarship in honor of Chancellor Vicky Carwein, who leaves the 黑料吃瓜网T campus April 15. The Vicky L. Carwein Auditorium (formerly Keystone Auditorium) and the Vicky L. Carwein Endowed Scholarship were announced at a farewell event for Carwein.
鈥淲e are very pleased to be able to invest our first 黑料吃瓜网T auditorium with the Carwein name and all of that name鈥檚 associated significance for the 黑料吃瓜网, Tacoma, and the South Sound,鈥� said Bill Richardson, director of 黑料吃瓜网T鈥檚 Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences program.
Carwein, 黑料吃瓜网T鈥檚 first chancellor, has led the campus since 1995, beginning five years after it was founded. She is leaving to become the first woman to serve as president of Westfield State College in Massachusetts.
When she arrived, 黑料吃瓜网T, housed in leased space, had 732 students in four academic programs. Today, 黑料吃瓜网T serves more than 2,100 students with seven academic programs.
The 170-seat auditorium opened in 2002 as part of Phase 2A of campus construction, and Carwein was among the first to speak there. It is the only auditorium on the 黑料吃瓜网T campus.
