Get Fit For Summer: ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Physicians sponsor free talks at REI
Need help getting in shape for outdoor recreation? ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Physicians are sponsoring a free series of talks on Get Fit For Summer, at the REI main store, 222 Yale Ave. N. in Seattle. Talks are from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. No registration is necessary. For more information contact Marilyn Hayes-Sweeney at (206) 543-3620.
The calendar includes:
– May 19, “Riding High: How to Cycle for Maximum Fun, Fitness and Fame,” with Lori Sabado, physical therapist with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Sports Medicine, triathlete and avid cyclist; and Julie Johnson, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø physical therapist and “Rookie of the Year” in the 1994 Race Across America.
– June 16, “Prepare Yourself for Hiking Up Where the Air is Clear,” with Dr. Robert Schoene, director of the Exercise Training Center at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Medical Center’s Roosevelt clinic, who recently climbed Denali and Mount Kilimanjaro and who has participated in research on cardiopulmonary capacity on Mount Everest.
– July 21, “How to Prevent and Recover from Shoulder Injuries,” with Dr. Rick Matsen, specialist in shoulder surgery and replacement and an avid marathoner, cyclist and skier; and Dr. Kevin Smith, a member of the shoulder and elbow team at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Medical Center’s Bone and Joint Center.
