Electronic Newsletter, Free E-Mail Part of New Alumni Internet Services

Alumni can now receive a new monthly electronic newsletter and find a host of alumni services online-including free e-mail-thanks to a major expansion of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Alumni Association's Web and Internet services.

The first edition of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NewsLinks, a free, monthly e-newsletter for alumni and friends about the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, was sent to 14,000 alumni in April. The newsletter, put together by the staff of Columns, is designed to keep alumni and friends informed about campus news, trends, research and features on a timely basis. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NewsLinks also takes advantage of the Internet to bring links to fascinating (and unusual) ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø-related Web sites, opportunities for quick feedback, a monthly trivia contest and more.

To subscribe to the free e-newsletter, go to and click on ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NewsLinks.

To take full advantage of all ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøAA Internet services-including a free e-mail account-alumni should apply for a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NetID-the best way for alumni to get connected with their alma mater and each other.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NetID stands for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Network Identification. Your ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NetID is your personal identification which allows you access to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø online services.

Registering for a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NetID is simple and doesn't cost a cent. Alumni with a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NetID can set up a free, two-megabyte ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø e-mail account with forwarding options, and get access to MyºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, a customizable Web page that you can set up with the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø information you use the most, such as links to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Libraries catalog or the latest news from Husky Sports Information.

Until recently, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NetIDs and the associated alumni services have been available only to alumni graduating after 1998. Now the same services are open to all ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø alumni. Those who have graduated since 1998-about 30,000 new alumni-still have their student ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NetID active, along with their student e-mail account, although the size of that account is now set at 2 MB.

Activating a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø NetID takes about 10 minutes. You'll need some information to verify your eligibility for alumni services and access to the World Wide Web. When you're ready to register, go to and click on "Online Services" on the left menu bar. You will need your last name, alumni/member number (available on your membership card or on the label of your Columns magazine) and either the last six digits of your Social Security number or your ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø student number and birthdate.
